A dietitian is a regulated health professional with at least 4 years of formal education, a post-grad internship, state licensure, and continuing education to maintain credentials. A nutritionist does not have standardized credentials, as the title isn’t legally protected in many places. All dietitians are nutritionists, but not all nutritionists are dietitians.
